Lapland Spirit takes you deep into the heart of Arctic nature, northern lights and northern culture with unique theme trains. Experience Lapland's magical landscapes from the comfort of a train - whether it's the Aurora Express under the Northern Lights, the historic Wild West Lapland or the flavour-filled Taste of Lapland. Every train journey is full of stories, experiences and northern atmosphere. The 2025 journeys will be available for booking in autumn 2025.
Lapland Spirit Rail will operate in 2025 and early 2026 from Oulu, which is the European Capital of Culture 2026.
Our headquarters are located at Kemi station and our train home base is in the Tornio station area, where operations will start in 2026.

Join us for the most atmospheric train journey of the year! Santa Claus' train will take you through snowy landscapes from Oulu via Kemi towards the heart of Christmas, Rovaniemi. On board, elves entertain passengers and every moment is filled with Christmas magic. Treat yourself to mulled wine, enjoy the Christmas shows and let yourself be swept away by the wonder of Christmas in the North. And who is the mysterious red-clad passenger who boards the train?

Arrive in style in Meri-Lappi by steam train. Satama Open Air festivals are in Kemi, which can be reached directly from Oulu. The singer and guitarist Heme sings to the passengers.

Finland's largest and most beautiful steam locomotive HR1 "Ukko-Pekka", number 1009, will operate under the name Lapland Spirit Rail north from Oulu to Pello from Christmas 2025.
